Should I trust my teacher even though I've been told not to?

I've been having issues with severe depression lately, and wanted to talk to my orchestra director about it because I love him and we're friends. Plus I found out he attempted suicide and also goes through depression so he would understand me. I was getting ready to talk to him about it and thinking about what I would say, but then my private lesson teacher told me not to trust him. She never said why. I trust her as well, but she has been known to be wrong half the time and she gets creeped out about him sometimes because hes gay. I want to talk to him because I need to get my feelings out since I dont trust anyone, but I'm afraid that my private instructor might be right about not trusting him. What do you think I should do?
