How to tell my friends and family about boarding school?

i really want to go to an all girls boarding school called grier. my mom is the only one that knows i want to go and she excepts my desicion but i dont know how to tell my dad who is really close minded and my friends who i love so much. i dont want them to think im leaving them or anything. please help.
